Hi Folks,
Im shortly to join battle again with one of the energy giants.
A large part of their defence is that although I was paying them regularly and on time by Standing Order, under agreements with their agents, both written and oral and into their one and only bank account, they claim that because it was designated (by them) as payment only to the electricity account, that they were entitled to pursue payment of (allegedly) outstanding sums in relation to the gas account.
This is patently ridiculous, but what Im looking for is statute that might confirm its ridiculousness i.e that stipulates that a supplier may not dictate the means by which it is paid. Im thinking Bills of Exchange Act, but if anyone has any other ideas, please let me know.
